Comment on I bought CET’s recommended light box in early November and can’t even begin to describe what a wonderful addition to my life it has been. I’ve never, ever felt better. I can honestly say that I’ve never been psychologically healthier or happier, not even in the summer. So can I assume that it is safe to continue my use of the light, 30 minutes a day in the morning, during the summer months? by Dr. Michael Terman https://www.cet.org/question/i-bought-cets-recommended-light-box-in-early-november-and-cant-even-begin-to-describe-what-a-wonderful-addition-to-my-life-it-has-been-ive-never-ever-felt-better-i-can-honestly-say-that-ive/#comment-20155 Mon, 23 Jan 2017 08:46:03 +0000 https://www.cet.org/?post_type=question&p=566#comment-20155 Yes, year-round use is safe. Your unit is a 10,000 lux lamp suitable for treatment of SAD.

I have no idea what type to get, such as blue vs white light, type of bulb, wattage, UV output, eye damage, size, style, light above or level location. What should I look for in my lamp? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially a reputable brand and user reviews positive.

Comment on I am 34 years old and have a long history of difficulty sleeping. My doctor diagnosed me with delayed sleep phase disorder (DSPD). It appears that my “normal” sleep time is 4 or 5 a.m., and I typically wake up around noon or 1 p.m. I would like to shift my sleep earlier so that I can fall asleep around midnight or even 11 p.m. I purchased a light box per my doctor’s instructions, but he is not sure how/when to apply the light box. What time should I use the light box? Immediately upon waking at noon? If I do so any earlier, it will disrupt my sleep. by Rob https://www.cet.org/question/34-years-old-long-history-difficulty-sleeping-doctor-diagnosed-delayed-sleep-phase-disorder-dspd-appears-normal-sleep-time-4-5-m-typicall/#comment-19712 Thu, 26 May 2016 05:53:15 +0000 https://www.cet.org/?post_type=question&p=2328#comment-19712 Thank you! That was incredibly helpful. One follow up question: To get to sleep earlier, should I take melatonin? If so, what dosage and how many hours before target bed time? Thanks again.
